Hi all, I'm new here. I'm working on a research for a TV production, and looking for more information about a following F-106 video. Does anyone know what TV series this clip is from? Show title, production name, any information will be very much appreciated. Thank you for your help in advance :thanks

Have you tried to contact the guy who posted it on You Tube? (Dumb question; you probably have!) I wish I could read the logo in the upper right corner.
What production are you working on? Something for the F-106?
Please keep us posted!
Mark

Hi Mark, Thanks for your comment. Yeah, I've tried, but I wasn't able to send him a message due to his account settings. So I only left a comment there a couple of weeks ago, but no response so far.. I was hoping anyone here recognize the logo. I wish the resolution of the video was better!
Unfortunately, it's not a segment for F106... it's about an old criminal case, in which F106 was used to trace the criminal.
Wish me luck!

It is coming very close to the 40th anniversary (11/24/71) of the hijacking, and I can imagine someone may want to do a special of some sort. That is at least, actually the only, well known criminal case that I know of involving F-106s! (Am I close?!) Good luck! Mark

This is a documentary film possibly produced by the USAF or DOD or maybe the manufacturer of the F-106 which was General Dynamics division of Convair. The opening shots of the B Model were made using aircraft from the Air Defense Weapons Center at Tyndall AFB FL. Later shots were made with aircraft from Griffiths AFB in Western NY. Are you looking for video clips to use for your production or some other kind of info. If we knew what you are looking for we might have an alternative source or ideas. If you are doing a DB Cooper piece, we might even be able to find the pilots who flew chase. Pat P. :teacher

Well... Yes and No, but I can't tell at this moment.. :scratch_head I can answer the question probably by the end of this month!
Hi Pat, Thanks for your advice. I've actually tried General Dynamics, DOD, and National Archives, but unfortunately, none of them have F106 footage.
I'm looking for clips to use in the show, especially the ones of scrambling, take-off, and in the air. I've found several clips from History Channel, and am waiting for a reply if they are available to license. I hope they are... But if you know better sources, please let me know! Thank you!

So I only left a comment there a couple of weeks ago, but no response so far.. I asked the same thing, and this is what she said. Got a few guys checking for her on the video. I need to find that old video I have of Century Series planes I got back around 1998 or so when I lived in Colorado. Hopefully it wasn't lost with a bunch of my other stuff during my Grand Forks AFB basement flood when I lived on base. Mark

That logo on the video is SpeedVision See this link for the evolution of the company logos.wikia.com/wiki/SpeedvisionSee this link for the Wiki on the company en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_(TV_channel)The video had to have been made from 1996 to 2002 when they used this logo. If my memory serves me correctly at one time the Speed Chanel use to show "Wings", a program that features many military aviation topics. The voice sounds like one of the narrators from one of the older programs.

I was just channel surfing, and came across an episode of "Decoded" on History 2 about D.B. Cooper, and was wondering about this old thread.
Anyone heard of any updates?
I wonder who the 318th F-106 pilots were that flew that intercept that night. Hmmm?

On the D B Cooper (actual D Cooper, D B Cooper was found and it warn't him- the ticket was listed as D Cooper) F-106 chase, I don't know that the 318th chased them but the 84th did. During my time at Hamilton on the Block S protoproof (Apr-May 1972), I met and talked to one of the pilots, Russ Web(b?)er. He said they couldn't see much and didn't see the air stair come down. It was a dark and stormy nite. History channel (or whoever) made a documentry at some point but used F-102 vice sixes as the chase.

He is such a famous character maybe someone should write up a story about the incident and the F-106 involvement and we can add it to the There I Was... page on the website www.f-106deltadart.com/thereiwas.phpOh BTW :welcome mwtrefethen :salute

Scroll down a bit on this site for a short story. For some reason I can't get to the 318thFIS.com web site for that version. www.mcchordairmuseum.org/REV%20B%20MAM%20MUSEUM%20NEWS%20RIP%20CHORD.htmn467us.com/Definition%20of%20Terms.htmI didn't know that the 84th FIS was involved as well. Where did the 84th FIS Sixes launch from for the intercept? I can't imagine they would have launched out of Hamilton for an intercept even over Oregon, but I was not there, so I am curious. Was the pilot you talked to assigned to the 318th at the time of the hijack/intercept (11/24/71), and later transferred to the 84th? Just a thought -- again, I wasn't there.
