...As the old story goes you need to put the equipment in the field to find out how everything is working. Joe Sylvia GD/Convair Rep. I like that. It was the same way I really learned how to fix KC-135s. Showing up for your shift at home station was fine. You learned the basics, and how to to use job guides. How I became a KC-135 fixer (and ultimately a competent C-130 Flight Engineer) was going on the road. Off-station. You sink, or swim there. Apply those troubleshooting skills, fix the airplane, continue the mission, and press on. Or, you never go on a TDY again because you can't be trusted to do your job. Mark O.
