Hey Guys,
I just purchased a Revell model of the F-106A Delta Dart. It comes with a decal sheel with the following info: 59-0142, Pilot Captain B.B. Patterson Operations Officer, 456Th Fighter Interseptor Squadron, Castle AFB, California 1962 and 59-0127, Pilot Captain Malcolm Emerson, 48th Fighter Interseptor Squadron, Langley AFB, Virginia 1972. I have in my posession a decal sheet for the 49th FIS along with some for the 5th FIS and the 27th FIS. Any suggestions as to whom might want the unused decals? I am also have the Monogram model in my posession shortly too. Lauren

Lauren,
If you really need someone to take those decals off your hands, I'll step up to the plate for that! (PM me for my info, and if you need some compensation.)
As far as the actual kit - have you built one before? They can be a bear (no pun intended!) as the top-bottom design of the fuselage commonly requires a bunch of filler to close up. It can be a time consuming job, but is always worth it. I have a bunch in my collection, but with all the kits my kids are working on, it's been some time since I've put one together, or taken one from my stash.
Good luck!
Mark

I've got one that I haven't started yet (got one at my Mom's house that I started but never got too far with too). I'm hoping to start on it this summer sometime.

Beautiful model.
Lots of loving work went in to it.
Is that a Zenith it is sitting on?

I had squadron tail decals custom made for the 11th FIS (Duluth) for the early 1960's era (red bull in blue "V" with 3 red and 2 white stripes) for the Revell 1:48 scale plastic model. Contact Bill Egsieker at North Central Hobbies, Overland, MO - www.nchobby.net if you would like copies ($8 + tax & postage). Frank Doerr - frdoerr55@sbcglobal.net

Fitting mine together, particularly the IFR receptacle, is turning out to be the stuff of psychotic episodes... not to mention having to handpaint the three stripes behind the cockpit and rearrange and possibly handpaint the aft point of the 318th's eight-point star markings--the airframe I'm modeling had a unique variation on the tail-art while flagship. Need to hit it with another pass of Goo Gone, and dilute my paint a little more, and touch up the IFR and canopy-frame joints... then, maybe I'll be ready to really commence build once my detail parts are in. Build photo album's at s94.photobucket.com/albums/l119/Diamondback6/F-106%20build/ --updates will be infrequent, but that's where I'll have 'em. Sorry, PB isn't playing nice letting me copy IMG codes right now... but on the overall workbench shot, that tackle-box is aside from a handful of 1/350 Harriers and choppers nothing but various missiles, bombs, targeting and gun pods. (And yes, that EA-6B in the background is in a rather strange scheme... it's going to be a "What If" inspired by the Centennial of Naval Aviation specials, in this case the scheme worn by aircraft at the Turkey Shoot and Leyte Gulf.)

Pat P. frdoerr wrote in an email: the mounted F-106 and F/A-18 were prestented to me when I retired - they were professionally done. The only detail not authentic is the number of red & white stripes on the tail of the F-106. The F-106 on the right is one I made with tail markings of the 11th FIS. I don't have decals for any of the numbered planes I worked on, so that part is missing. An interesting story - one day here in the St. Louis area many years ago, we were greeted with a sonic boom - right over town. As I watched the evening news that day, it was explained that ATC had messed up and had mis-directed the plane over a populated area. When they showed a shot of the plane involved - I immediately recognized it as an F-106B that I had worked on at Duluth. I didn't know until then that there was a facility at nearby Alton, Illinois modifying F-106's - making them drones! If you call up the 11th FIS pages in Erv's archives, you'll see several F-106 photos that I sent ro Erv several years ago. Frank Doerr Attachments:

Hi all, Joe Sylvia, retired Convair F-106 Tech Rep sent the following email Pat, maybe you could send this to Pat McGee and he could post it somewhere. Some people who don’t have a model may want to order it. Being a novice at this computer business I don’t understand how to maneuver around this Internet. I’m having fun anyhow! Cheers, Joe Thanks Joe! This 1/72 scale die-cast Spirit of '76 F-106 would make a very nice addition to any modelers collection. See the bottom of the page for websites to stores that carry the model nationwide. Pat P. Attachments:filename (387.05 KB)

Oh, and there're three 1/144 Sixes in the F-Toys Wing Kit Collection's Century Series release--minor assembly required, mostly wing-fuse join and gear IIRC. A joint up in Lynnwood had a few on the shelf, but I didn't buy in because I couldn't find 1/144 318th markings for a re-mark. Wish I could find circa-'68 markings and enough of 'em to do a diorama of the full flightline as my grandfather woulda known it...
