2 years ago i replaced a 30 year old gas furnace with a new lennox that came withe the latest "green" advantages and warrenties... at the time i was really hot to trot about putting in AC... i was also looking a a 35 + year old roof .... well, i decided to go with replacing the roof, cause 1 of these days im gonna retire and want all the long term things taken care of... i had the forthsight to have the heating people include the module in the furnace for the a/c.... so maybe, if i survive this forecasted heatwave of 100F... :confused

Gene, Have you already replaced your roof? Are radient barriers a big deal in your Lattitude? (to lower attic temps) Just curious. I just replaced my roof with a steel one with crushed granite sprayed on that has a radient barrier underneath it. My attic temp difference to ambient is 7-8 degrees rather than they former 25-35 degrees. Plus my home owners insurance dropped $357 a year. AC runs a lot less too. www.steelrockroofs.com Pat P. :us_flag

It was 95 in Port Ludlow today between 2 and 4PM. It's my understanding that Thursday is suppose to be the hottest day.

We're currently having the coldest July in Chicagoland in 66 years. Avg temp of 68.1 or so. Give or take a few tenths.
Back home (Dallas) it's been in the 100's more than 23 days in July.

San Antonio, Texas.... today will be the 35th day of 100+ temps this summer . Couple this with at least a decade of drought conditions and you must agree some one has left the gates of Hell ajar. Would the next poor soul to enter there please close the gates securely.

Just talked to my daughter at Dover AFB, DE. At 0630 it was already 80 degrees. At 0630 in Port Ludlow, WA at 0630 it was 60 degrees. Just wonder how hot it will get today?

As I went to check the mail I noticed that we had over cast skies of very moist looking clouds. I'm guessing our 100+ temps today may not happen.
I've done all I can do, washed both cars, hung out some washing to dry, planned an outdoor party, cut my grass, turned over a flower garden, and hung out the "rain rock".
Now if only the cold front heading south from north Texas doesn't fall apart prior to arrival in south Texas we maybe wet by tomorrow. We only had a 10% chance of rain today. As it were we are 2 feet from stage 3 water restrictions.

the radio says that they started recording the temp. in wa. in 1891. they are predicting 101F today. that will be the hottest in the recorded history in this state. its hot out here in lakewood... the cars in the shop getting the glass replaced in the rear of the convertible top... i figure the tops staying up for a while...yes the a/c works...thank goodness!! im using the local bus to get to and from the top shop...the riders are looking pretty ragged...the a/c on the buses are working pretty good, but stepping off into the sun is quite a jolt :us_flag

;D Dan, Dan, you may be the problem. You did everything correctly, almost. According to Steve Browne, a Santone weather guru for you non Texans, the Rain Rock is only to keep rain away during Fiesta. He tried a chip off the rain rock to bring rain, and drove the clouds away. Take down the rain rock. Jim

Damn, one of my granddaughters caught a cold last week and today it hit me including sore throat. It the Zicam right away and hope that will shorten it and lesson it. I don't know which is better. Being sick in cool winter weather on in hot dry summer weather. Watch being in that cold airconditioning and then out in that 101 degree tempature change. Thats the mix that can help trigger a cold, is it not? It's so darn hot my dog stood still while I hosed her off about 2PM. She loved it.

The Iowa weather has been cool, temps mostly in the 70s and some 60s.Cool at night lower 50s. After having a wet spring are now in kind of a dry spell. Could go down as the coldest July on record. Saves on the old A.C. bill. :snowman

No No Jim, this rain rock is an "Okie" rain rock. The Texican rain rock is hoisted at Fiesta Time and other week long parties to prevent rainouts. The "Okie" rain rock is used to detect rain has fallen. If'n it be wet there has been rain, if'n it be dry it hasn't rained. It's a much better indicator of precip verifications.
Just had the cold / cool front come through, had a big blast of wind and the dark clouds are spinning around and stuff.

Oh! The Okie Rain Rock. Yeah, I remember them from when I lived outside Duncan. Very accurate. They also told you how high the wind speed was. It it blew away, well, you knew you had a twister pass by. We has some strong, 42MPH, winds a bit ago. The temperature has dropped from 103 to 74.7. May even get some wet stuff on the patio. South Texas! 'Nuff said. Jim :god_bless_usa
