Tonight I found a vid; I think I've seen it before. Great 40 minute video; "The Magic of Flight". I watched it on NetFlix. Great aerobatics and profile of The Blue Angels. Check it out, nice watch. www.netflix.com/Note: No pitch for NetFlix meant. AJ

Back in mid 70's the USAF started really adding female pilots. But most went to MAC and flew cargo planes. Working at McChord form 1980-1983 we had many female C-141 pilots and C-130's were ramping up. Many of them were very attractive as well. Many of them became Sq Cmd and higher as their careers blossomed. It was shortly later that the USAF opened up flight training to females in fighters and helos as well. Lorin

today with all the gopro and other mini cams that you can mount just about anywhere... watching these videos from several different perspectives (love the shot from the undercarriage showing the climb and the gear retracting) is just eye-popping.
i'll never forget my first backseat ride... the crewchief putting his knee on your shoulder as he pulls the straps as tight as he can.. when he fits the "golden key" into your quickrelease buckle. you realize that things are getting real... watching things go by as you taxi to the end of the runway and the canopy closing... the pilot asks you to "uncage" the altimeter and set the barometric pressure... a final checklist by the pilot. getting clearance to takeoff.... feeling the bounce as the bird picks up speed trundling down the blacktop, and finally the moment you leave the ground... im getting a rush just recalling this...
flying around, doing whatever the mission calls for... feeling the bird buffet from the different wind currents... like going down a dirtroad in a "vw bug"... knowing that your going several hundreds per hour... yet almost feeling motionless as you " ' fling your eager craft thru footless halls of air' "*
and finally on the ending of that flight as the pilot wants to give you one last thrill... he makes a wing over combat dive over a housing development as he lines up with the end of the runway, you can actually look down the chimney of a house... and he levels off... the touch down. the squeal of tires. the their revolutions try disparately to catch up to the birds slowing down....
i'm taking a break here...

Great words. You sure you've never written a book before?
Every pilot behind the lead is "flying paint". That means they are only looking at the paint on lead's aircraft. Only the lead knows where they are going. If lead ever yells, "Break, break, break" they all have a direction to escape.
Makes you sweat bullets.

no i never have.. i'v been told several times i should... some of which is said sarcastically ( like they think i'm lying)... and some after a few explanations... sometimes at the threat of physical ness. most of the time this " tale tales " are spoken... and are dotted with a lot of colorful language. ( which i have to delete before presenting it here.)
i have not grown with the rest of the herd into the world of p.c. ... i still talk like i did back in the '70's... if someone brings that to my attention, i generally tell that someone to go f^*k yourself... i dont have many friends, but the few i have understand where i come from...
