Come join us. The 49th Fighter Squadron Association will stage its annual reunion from 8 October - 11 October 2009 at Columbus AFB in Columbus, MS. Check our website (<www.49thfightersquadronassociation.com>) for further details when they become available. It's a great group and we have a blast every year. For further information on the organization, contact Bob Thomalen at <the3garridebs@comcast.net>.
Hope to see all 49ers there.
Best regards
Bob Thomalen Vice Commander

Just to add to Bob's post- The 49th Fighter Sq Assoc covers all eras from WWII (P-38), late 40's (F-84) fifties (F-86D), 60's (F-101B), 70's &80s (F-106) and todays 49th Fighter Training squadron (AT-38). I've been a member since 2006 and it is a great group of people. I was a MA-1 weenie from 75-79. I went to the 2006 reunion in Dayton. We had a dinner"under the wings" at the AF Museum after closing. After dinner we had plenty of time to wander around the aircraft. The museum let down the ropes around 787 and set up a maintenace stand so we could get up to the cockpit. The T-38 pilots really got a kick out of the cockpit. A great time was had by all. In 2007 we were in Tuscon, 2008 was Ft Walton Beach and thjis year is Columbus AFB MS. We really would like to see more of us 106 weenies join up. Check out the website & contact Bob Thomalen for more info.

Hey 49th FIS guys... Hope you have a great reunion in Colorado Springs. We had our 456th FIS reunion there in June 2010. Hope you get to tour the AF Academy Chapel and the Peterson Air & Space Museum. They have some great docent tours there. The Museum Director is Gail Whalen Gail.Whalen@peterson.af.mil . She was a missile silo commander during her AF days and is a very fine person. www.petemuseum.org I'll bet the Old Sarge might even make you a clock or two for raffle or door prizes.
