The Old Sarge has been pretty busy this year supporting squadron reunion fund raisers with his beautiful clocks. He did some mighty fine pieces for the 456th FIS Reunion at Dulles that I haven't uploaded yet to WebShots. Here's a few he did later in the summer that were really well received. See the captions to see who received them. Thanks JIM! You have created some real memory makers. Pat. P 456th FIS Click on picture to see more slides

Jim "Arnie" Arnold is the latest recipient of one of the Old Sarge's special award clocks. Arnie was crew chief on 57-2453 assigned to the 456th FIS from 66 to 68 at Castle AFB in Atwater, CA. Arnie and Bruce "Gook" Gookin were fellow crew chiefs back in the day and helped organize the 456th FIS Alumni Committee in 2001, track down over 300 squadron members, raise about $40K and got a F-106 from AMARC for the Castle Air Museum (CAM), and helped to conduct eight 456th FIS Reunions from 2001-2010. Their reunion roles were to conduct the "Gook & Arnie Show" to raise raffle money for CAM and give away door prizes, many of which were built by the Old Sarge. Both of them are a little "deef" from being around J-75's so their voices project the needed volume to hawk the raffle tickets. Arnie wanted me to remind you that the 456th FIS 2011 Reunion will be held at CAM on Open Cockpit Day the Sunday before Memorial Day 2011 - more info later. Congrats Arnie! Pat P. :us_flag

The Old Sarge is going to make a few 27th FIS & Fighter Squadron guys pretty happy on November 4th, 2010 as the 27th Loring Pilots are having their reunion at Langley. You'll note these are not Delta Darts but Raptors - two of the best looking fighter aircraft ever built. For some big shots in the 27th Ftr Sqdn presented by the 27th FIS Plaque to be presented to 27th Ftr Sqdn by 27th FIS Loring AFB Pilots group at their reunion Nov 4 and Langley Nice work Old Sarge! The Old Sarge, Jim Gier, has made over 55 clocks in support of F-106 activities, functions and individuals. Here are his latest creations for the MA-1 mini-reunion at Phoenix this month and for the 456th FIS mini-reunion at Castle Air Museum in Atwater, CA on May 29th. There are six photos so after you click on the picture, advance the slides to the right to see all six and their captions. Keep on advancing to see many of the past clocks he has made. Hail to the Chief o'the Clocks! Pat P. :us_flag

I guess I missed the announcement, when and where is the reunion in Phoenix? Contact Lavern "Bear" Bruhn on this forum. He's picking up clocks from the Old Sarge for two events, Phoenix and Selfridge. The one in Phoenix may be a small one. The one in Selfridge is the big MA-1 Reunion. Pat P.

The Old Sarge, Jim Gier, and spouse Sandy were overwhelmed by a Bear. In March 2011, Lavern "Bear" Bruhn decided that Jim's contributions by making clocks for donation to F-106 people and reclamation projects should not go unrewarded. So he built this awesome looking chest and delivered it to Jim & Sandy. Sandy immediately put the chest into service. Bear and Jim met face to face for the first time at the 456th 2010 reunion in Colorado Springs where they discovered that each of them was gifted in making beautiful art work emerge from wood. Jim's specialty is clocks of all kinds and he has built over 55 of them just for F-106 occasions. Bear builds fine furniture and we need to see some more pictures of his work. Jim & Bear, for all you have done for others, we hope the Lord has taken a liking to you, because we sure have! Time for an old kick in the Karma for both of you. I just posted this on FaceBook to Lawrence Scott Fisher who updated the group cover photo in USAF Aircraft of the 1950s to 1980s. Pat Squared Lawrence Scott Fisher. That photo was taken by USAF Photographer Kenneth Hackman. Jim "The Old Sarge" Gier found this image on the Internet and we tracked down Kenneth who supplied the image that Jim used to create a clock plaque for the All Troops F-106 Reunion at Colorado Springs in 2015. Jim made two clock plaques. One for the Reunion Raffle and one for Kenneth Hackman. Kenneth wrote this email to Jim and I: "Jim, Fantastic! Wow! I was completely blown away by the beautiful gift I received in the mail. You did a great job and I am so appreciative of your generosity. The photo looks great with the clock and the inscriptions on the back I shall cherish. I am glad that I was able to help out with your project. I would have called you but I didn't have your number. If I can help out in the future, let me know. I'm sure I have more F-106 photos. The ADC F-106s used to deploy to Korea for six month TDYs. I went over there to photograph them and then flew with the returning contingent flying from Korea to Guam enroute back to the U.S. Long ride in a F-106!! Thanks again, Ken" Picture attached, Pat Perry Great job Jim! The picture Lawrence posted: The picture Pat posted:
