Fifteen BUFFs headed South over Minot and Burlington must have really thrilled the locals.
Just after takeoff they were going pretty low over Ruthville, home of the Hooterville Bar and Grill.
Pretty noisy.
It is the sound of Freedom.
Would have been much louder in January. The cold air really amplifies the noise.
The video was taken from the control tower.

Let's see, 15 times 8 is 120 jet engines that's remarkable huh.

I sent that link to my kids. I've tried to explain the EWo Alert Alert Response and the MITO, but words only can do and make people visulize so much. That video really shows what its all about.
Now all we need is a F-106 scramble video.

Bull,
I did the same as you with my son. I've told him about what it was like over the years, but he never really understood, now he does. At Loring we had KC-135's in the mix also.

That is really a great animation.
A couple of wonder whys.
Why did they have the burners on so much, including on landing?
Why did only one have drop tanks.
I guess those are just things the animators did.
Those things certainly don't take away from a great film.
Looked very real. Whoever made it knows their stuff.

Jim I don't think they were trying to show AB operation. My thoughts were just engine heat. If they were showing AB they likely would have had a white flame out the back as you see on TV all the time with all fighters. The jet with no drop tanks caught my attention also. No F-106 would be on alert status without tanks. Plus the tanker hook up on the way to interception puzzled me. I'd expect that after interception maybe. But it was all nicely done. Great graphics.

I watched a couple of other videos about the Six, the others were real, but no scrambles or intercepts. Search Youtube and Dailymotion for F-106 or F-106 Delta Dart and you'll get quite a few hits.
